Attendance that is fair and can be verified
One tap at the school gate. Staff see their school's campus on a map, with their own position on it. When they are inside the boundary, checking in takes one tap.
Clear messages, not refusals. The screen says what is happening in plain words: "You are 120m away. Move within 200m of the campus to mark attendance," or "You can mark attendance until 9:15 AM."
A weak signal never stops an honest teacher. When a phone's location reading is unreliable, the staff member can still mark attendance. First, they are shown exactly what will be recorded: the accuracy of the reading, their distance from the campus, and the fact that the entry will be flagged for review. They then choose whether to continue.
Precise location cannot be used as a loophole. If precise location is switched off on the phone, the app explains this and gives the exact steps to switch it on for that phone, including a button that opens the settings directly.
Works offline. Attendance marked without a signal is stored on the phone and uploads itself when the signal returns. A notice stays on screen until every record has been uploaded.
Holidays announced in advance. The day before a national holiday, staff see a short notice telling them what is expected of them.
